Mike Lawrence, "Top Banana" and true islander. When Mike was 14, he saw tall palms and the powdery sands of Florida for the first time. Never one to be denied, or to say, "I should have," Mike headed for the temperate zone of Florida after graduating from Stamford High in CT. Mike attended the University of Tampa where, for the next four years, you could find him on Clearwater Beach. Great tan, so-so grades! |
Besides being the "Top Banana" at Havana Banana Breads, Mike wants to do only a few other things in his life. One is to resume his mediocre surfing career, and another is to teach his autistic son, Robby, to hang 10 off a long board. Mike's wife, Mary, only wants to keep him out of traction!
The idea for Havana Banana Breads is a result of Mike's love for great tasting carbs and his mix and match creativity. Who else could create more than 15 varieties of banana bread while sitting on a Washington D.C. commuter train? And Mike can finally put all those Tuesday nights in graduate school to work.
